Even though volar plate fixation is in vogue, the indications for external fixation remain largely unchanged. Newer fixator designs have also expanded the traditional usage to include nonbridging applications, which allow early wrist motion.

Many Scaphoid Fractures are treatable with casting. However, with modern methods, surgery is generally considered the treatment of choice. Casting is used to hold your bones in proper placement while they heal.
